Maman Zari is rapidly growing their reputation as a restaurant not only for celebrations, but as a comfortable place to join friends or family to enjoy innovative Persian cuisine, paired with fine wines and impeccable service. As one of the top 12 new restaurants for 2024 in the April issue of Chicago Magazine, Maman Zari offers a Persian fine-dining experience at an affordable price in Chicago's Albany Park neighborhood. We want to talk to you if you're an outstanding server with fine dining experience.

The FRONT SERVER leads the guest through the tasting menu experience and ensures that the flow of the table is seamless. Responsibilities include:

  • Greets and acknowledges guests and provides a positive dining experience
  • Serves food and beverage courses
  • accurately enters orders into the ordering system and fires at the appropriate time.
  • Confidently describes items by telling the stories of the dishes on the tasting menu, including contextual and cultural information for guests less familiar with Persian cuisine 
  • Use your knowledge of wine to assist guests when needed with the by-the-glass selections as well as having the ability to pour wine pairings tableside
  • Possesses knowledge of spirits and cocktails so as to effectively describe the cocktails on the menu in a relatable way to the guest
  • A genuine love for warm and precise hospitality 
  • An eagerness to learn and work as part of a team. With a higher base wage and a tip pool structure, everyone is expected to step in wherever needed and put the guest experience first
  • The ability to direct and work in tandem with your Back Server, and embody the team sport mentality
  • The passion to remain organized,  always being proactive rather than reactive by anticipating guest needs while knowing restaurant procedure.

Requirements:

  • Of minimum age to serve alcoholic beverages.
  • 2+ years of server experience (fine dining a must/tasting menu preferred)
  • Proficient in basic computer usage of POS systems and Reservations systems.
  • Excellent customer service, including patience and a friendly demeanor.
  • Exceptional organization and time management skills
  • Effective verbal communication skills in English. (Spanish or Farsi a plus)
  • Great active listening skills with the ability to read a room. 
  • Ability and willingness to collaborate and be part of a team.
  • Knowledge of foodservice regulations and proper food handling procedures.
  • Capability to learn, memorize, and recite menu details.
  • Excellent wine and cocktail knowledge
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, professional environment that requires attention to detail.
  • Willing to work flexible work schedules that include nights and weekends.
  • Physically able to be on your feet for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds unassisted

 

The BACK SERVER guides the guest through the tasting menu experience and ensures that the flow of the table is seamless. Responsibilities include:

  • Maintains knowledge of current day reservations, dietary restrictions, or other special instructions via pre-service meetings
  • Sets up room before service, including tabletop, seating and side stations
  • Maintains complete knowledge of all menus, including ingredients and cooking techniques used. Confidently describes and tells the stories of the dishes on the tasting menu, including contextual and cultural information for guests less familiar with Persian cuisine 
  • Serves all food and beverages to the dining room and clears tables in tandem with other servers
  • Maintains complete knowledge of table and seat numbers
  • An eagerness to learn and work as part of a team. With a higher base wage and a tip pool structure, everyone is expected to step in wherever needed and put the guest experience first
  • The ability to direct and work in tandem with your Front Server, and embody the team sport mentality
  • Anticipates guest needs and responds promptly
  • Accommodates all request for information courteously 
  • Takes direction from Captain

Requirements

  • 1 or more years’ experience as a food runner, server assistant, server, or related position 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced. professional, fine-dining environment
  • High attention to detail 
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to serve in tandem
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team 
  • Thinks clearly, quickly, and maintains concentration during high pressure situations 

Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly (Based on Experience)
