Causa/Amazonia (Chef Carlos Degaldo, and Chad Spangler/Glendon Hartley of Service Bar) is seeking a General Manager for a new project.

Causa/Amazonia are two Peruvian experiences from Chef Carlos Delgado, and Glendon Hartley and Chad Spangler from Service Bar. Causa will feature fresh ceviche, whole fish preparations, wood grilled anticucho, and an exploration of Peruvian coastal and Andes cuisine. Amazonia focuses on cuisine from the jungle, alongside native Peruvian staples. 

Find refreshment in an extensive cocktail list, sample from one of America's largest pisco libraries, or enjoy a respectable menu of fun natural & South American wines.

We are located at 920 Blagden Alley NW in Blagden Alley.

Responsibilities:

Upholding the culture and standards of Causa as dictated in our company handbook.

Staff

  • Primarily responsible for all staff

Management

  • Creating management schedules
  • Performance reviews for AGM, Bar Manager, Chef, Sous chef
  • Assistance hiring and on-boarding of management teams with an immediate focus on the AGM position
  • Approval of schedules written by AGM, BM, and Chef
  • Overall coordination between BOH and FOH
  • Marketing for staff, scheduling interviews and approving all candidates for FOH positions. Assisting Chef/Sous chef with BOH position interviews and hiring
    • Procurement of all necessary HR documents to be given to HR for input
  • Working with AGM/BM/Sous Chef to ensure proper training new staff and on-going training, motivation, and drive towards excellence with existing staff members
  • Training program oversight and management for each department

Financial

  • Scheduling staff and maintaining profitability based on labor hours.
  • Forecasting on a weekly basis for scheduling and budgeting purposes
  • Budgeting - working with ownership and accounting to set weekly budgets for all departments
  • Oversight of budgets and spending reports

General Duties

  • Leading team and setting overall standard for service and guest satisfaction
    • Creating all meeting agendas and leading all team and manager meetings
  • Active management of staff during day to day operations
  • Inventory, ordering, receiving, organization of all dry good and restaurant supply products
    • Adhering to weekly budgets
    • Working with management for any new product or menu adjustments based on product availability or menu changes

Systems

  • Day to day operational success via implementation of systems 
  • Adjustments to daily setup and systems based on menu changes
  • Oversight of daily opening/closing/on-going and weekly checklists creation, maintenance, and use for each department.
  • Expected 4 floor shifts per week per normal schedule
  • Menu
    • Pricing/menu updates, printing and distribution
      • Receive and approve cost of goods from Chefs/BM
      • Update all relevant technological systems such as Toast, Website, Google Business Page, etc.
      • All RESY general settings and procedures
      • Programing POS system for ease of FOH and BOH service
  • Mastery of all FOH and BOH systems of operation
  • Mastery of all technology
  • Attending and participating in manager meetings
  • Attending and participating in PnL meetings to ensure profitability
  • Overall organization, cleanliness, and appearance of restaurant
  • ABRA Manager’s License, TIPS training, and DC Food Handler’s License Required
    • We understand there may be a challenge here.

Events

  • Work in conjunction with BM to create, market, and schedule event packages.
  • Oversight of events coordination and sales
    • Work directly in events until staffing is filled
