Job Overview
We are hiring an EVENT BARTENDERS who will serve as an ambassador of hospitality for NEXUS Club. We are looking for someone who is passionate about service, spirits, cocktail culture, and beer (wine is a bonus), and can enthusiastically and efficiently communicate their knowledge to our other staff and members.
Positive vibes are essential - must be a great team player, communicate, give and receive direction, and work through busy and slow shifts alike, with positive energy. You'll need to multi-task - working behind the bar and stepping out onto the floor as needed - and be responsible for your station, keeping it clean, organized, and efficient. Communicating with other staff members, from Concierge to Kids Club staff to the Back of House, in order to provide the correct sequence of service, is key.
Many of the responsibilities are similar to expectations in fine dining venues, so that kind of experience will be very helpful for you. The server is responsible for serving beverages, marking silverware, and serving and clearing food in cooperation with the rest of the service team. Sell, present and serve wine according to NEXUS Club’s standards. Know and speak about the menu, including specials, allergens, preferences, etc. Make all guests feel entirely at ease and well-taken-care-of at all times.
As this is a private member's club that incorporates much more than just food and beverage, you'll also be asked to take on responsibilities outside the normal scope of a fine dining server job. If this is exciting to you, awesome! Thriving in unfamiliar terrain is a will be important for success here. Examples include working large scale events (conferences, lunches, dinners, live music, cocktail parties), coordinating kids activities with our supervised care team, resetting a conference room in 90 seconds flat, conducting an impromptu tequila tasting, or making custom bloody marys tableside.
Listing this as a seasonal job, as traffic in the Club slows down significantly in June - August.
Primary Duties
- Weekend availability is a must!
- Remember frequent members and build relationships with all club members.
- Accommodate guests by making each individual feel welcome and providing all they need - preferably before they ask
- Have a detailed knowledge about the spirits, cocktails, wine, and food menus and be able to explain.
- Present menus, answer questions, and makes suggestions regarding beverages and food including wine and food pairings.
- Prepare cocktails, mocktails, hot drinks and other beverage items as per guest order and in accordance with established recipes and presentation standards.
- Know each menu item, its ingredients, preparation methods, and allergens.
- Use of POS system to input orders, split checks, charge credit cards, and look up club member information when needed.
- Make recommendations when appropriate.
- Adhere to all DOH safety guidelines.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Compensation Details
Compensation: Hourly ($30.00)
