Job Details
Winona's is looking for a General Manager 

Winona's is a family-run restaurant nestled in Northern Bed-Stuy. Anchored by seasonally-driven dishes, thoughtfully curated natural wine, and community events with guest chefs, wine experts and food activists.

In partnership with Ownership and the Executive Chef, the General Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the establishment and providing leadership to all FOH employees.

What to expect :

  • You will lead our FOH team in all day-to-day operations, ensuring that they deliver the utmost example of hospitality in the industry.

  • In tandem with the management team, you will be expected to revisit and revise steps of service as needed, to ensure a balance between profitability and system efficiency. You will review our policies and ensure they are compliant with the ever-changing laws, regulations and guidelines.
  • Your ability to communicate in a manner that is calm, patient, and direct is as important as the policies and directions you choose to implement. Clear communication is fundamental in helping you, and the team that you oversee, reach the goals we have for Winona's
  • Identifying and recruiting diverse and committed employees, ensuring that their training and time management is on par with our standards. 
    It is expected that you will teach and mentor through empathy and integrity.
  • Consistent evaluation of current employee skill levels.
  • Resolving internal conflicts that arise through mediation and progressive discipline practices.
  • Maintaining a dining-room and work environment that promotes friendliness and generosity.
  • We hold weekly meetings to discuss all policies, service issues, bookings, events and strategies. You will be responsible for taking minutes and making sure that all decisions made during these meetings are followed through on.

  • You will also participate in meetings pertaining to P&L, Workflow Productivity, Overall Costing, Payroll budgeting. Together with the Executive Chef you will be a responsible for working toward reaching the goals which are set out each month. 

Your regular schedule will be 5 days a week on a 50 hour work week, with the occasional  jump into coverage if the restaurant and operation demands it.
Some of these days you will work on the floor, which will require you to be on your feet for long periods of time, to lift heavy things.
Sometimes you will get dirty, you will have to balance on a stool or get on a ladder.

Compensation: Salary ($80,000.00)

The word-of-mouth-based series evolved into what is now Winona’s (named lovingly after our dog). Our focus has always been to bring people together, and while, in these interesting times, the way in which we are able to do this may look a little different, it remains the driving force behind Winona’s.
