Job Details

As a Head Sommelier you will gain a solid understanding of our style of service and our company's culture. This position lays the groundwork for all future opportunities for growth within our team.  The Head Sommelier should have the ability to naturally guide guests towards food & wine pairings to accentuate their dining experience. This position requires 4+ Years fine dining experience in a similar restaurant.

**In order to gain the necessary hands-on experience in all areas of the dining room and become familiar with our company’s culture and values, the introductory period for this role will require a 2-3 weeks transition with our current sommelier, before assuming the day-to-day sommelier responsibilities.**

A successful Head Sommelier has an in-depth knowledge of wines, as well as the ability to quickly recall and share complex information about different types of wines, wine pairings and tasting notes. Their main responsibility is to promote wine sales through staff and customer education, and by: 

  • Ordering wines
  • Maintaining the wine stock
  • Creating a wine list and writing wine descriptions
  • Suggesting food and wine pairings to servers and customers
  • Recommending wines based on customer preferences
  • Training waitstaff on wines
  • Conducting wine tastings for staff and customers
  • Hosting wine classes
Job Requirements:
    • 4+ years of experience in the hospitality industry in a sommelier role.
    • Previous experience in fine dining preferred
    • Proven knowledge of food and beverage pairings;
    • Solid understanding of pricing, budgets and cost management;
    • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken. Second language preferred.
    • Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; InDesign 
    • Professional grooming and appearance;
    • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, people-management skills;
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs which includes evenings and holidays;
    • Ability to lift up to 50lbs

Compensation Details

Compensation: Weekly ($1,500.00 - $2,500.00) plus tips
