About the Beacon Grand

The Beacon Grand is quintessential San Francisco, symbolizing progressive thinking while also celebrating its storied heritage. Launched during the Prohibition Era as the Sir Francis Drake, the fully-renovated hotel offers today’s travelers a new way to visit San Francisco. Its 418 rooms and thoughtful shared spaces bring modern design to life with restored architectural details. Guests are looked after by the hotel’s novel Social Hosts, who create a warm, convivial atmosphere as they facilitate stays that are personally-tailored, unique, and full of discovery. Job Summary:

The Maitre D will orchestrate a  remarkable evening at Starlite for all guests - from start to finish. It begins with a welcome where guests are greeted by name, escorted to seats, and where they are introduced to a server. Special occasions are discretely noted to be celebrated throughout the night. Through your own high quality service, and official training programming, staff see how to provide gracious service, increase sales, keep delivering delicious food and cocktails again and again.

What You’ll Do:

• Cultivate one of the most welcoming spaces in Union Square - a place to see and be seen by locals and tourists alike, ensuring a fun time is had by all.
• Act as a liaison to VIPs, Investors, and traveling restaurant and bar industry greats, acting as their “point-of-contact” for visiting Starlite whenever they are in town.
• Drive the culture of Excessive Hospitality. Foster creativity in planning  and arranging  for special touches for VIP and special guests of all kinds. 
• Continually improve service through observation, collaboration and discussions with guests, staff, sales teams, Beacon Grand leadership,  and ownership. Host open and productive conversations with chef & bar leads to edit and adapt until Starlite sings. 
• Inspire and educate the staff. Most importantly, show how it’s done. 
• Cover the basics: cleanliness, timeliness, and consistency; follow the laws and mandates, demonstrate the qualities of a respectful citizen of our San Francisco community.
• Find new and fun ways to ensure profitability - consider community and connection as key levers to pull. 
• All other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• At least three (3) years of Food & Beverage management experience required.
• Lifestyle / luxury hotel experience required, opening experience a plus.
• CA / San Francisco experience preferred.
