Bar Miller is hiring for FOH!

Bar Miller is New York’s only sustainable omakase sushi restaurant located in the heart of the Alphabet City. Serving a locally-focused tasting menu that highlights underutilized and sustainable species, Bar Miller is a highly curated extension from the team behind Rosella, located a few blocks away in the East Village. We are interested in creating a truly singular experience for our guests, full of warm hospitality and shared knowledge. This is a unique opportunity for anyone passionate about sustainability and ocean conservation, the art of sushi and Japanese cuisine, as well as high-end natural American wine, and sake.

Offering 2 seatings of 8 guests each night in our newly designed jewel box space on East 6th Street, Bar Miller is seeking a front-of-house professional to handle all aspects of service. While this is a team environment, service is run and operated by a single person each evening, so  comfort working solo and with a team is a must! If you enjoy being hands-on and connecting with guests and staff, are constantly interested in the improvement of yourself and systems, and appreciate elevated service in a casual setting - we’d love to meet you! 

The position is full time ideally, but willing to adjust for the right person, and compensation is a competitive hourly rate + tips.
Required skills:

• This is NOT an entry level position
• Service experience in NYC, in a comparable level restaurant 
• Experience working in a sushi restaurant is a plus
• Experience in a tasting menu/omakase format a plus
• Should have experience with guest communications via email/phone/text (ie: reservations)
• Warm and hospitable, with a positive attitude
• Multi tasking in a busy environment
• Clear communication skills
• Spacial awareness
• Sincere passion for food, beverage and the guest experience
• Strong work ethic and attention to detail
• Positive and team-forward attitude
• Able to work solo with efficiency and organization
• Flexible and open availability, including nights and weekends
• Familiarity with TOCK and SQUARE
