Job Details

The Prep Cook’s primary purpose is to provide direct support to Chef Christopher Kostow and the Executive Chef in the preparation and service of a cuisine using elemental cooking techniques. The Prep Cook plays a vital part in the smooth-running of the Charter Oak by thoroughly and consistently adhering to our standards as instructed by the Executive Chef and Sous Chefs.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work in collaboration with the AM Kitchen Manager
  • Follow the guidance of Chef and Sous Chefs
  • Fabrication of all garden products received
  • Preparation of all stocks
  • Ensure quality of all products used
  • Ensure organization and cleanliness of walk-ins, dry storage, and kitchen  
  • Support staff in assigned project based work
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years relevant experience in a similar role in hospitality
  • Pleasant personality with good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proactive, takes initiative and is well organized
  • Able to work fast and calm under pressure
  • Mature, with an attention to detail
  • Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time
  • Move, lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently as well as in and managing a team
  • In-depth working knowledge of food and beverage preparation and presentation
  • Desire to embrace locality and terroir as well as contribute to something larger

 

Work schedule may vary from week to week and will include weekends and holidays.

Compensation: Hourly ($20.00 - $26.00)
