BARDAVID, at the David Rubenstein Forum, is hiring 1 full-time AM barista/bartender and 1 full-time PM bartender. Hourly rate is $15, plus tips and occasional service charge for special events. We are paid bi-weekly and tips/service charge is distributed on your pay check.
BARDAVID is a Mediterranean inspired restaurant, serving lunch and dinner. We are positioned inside of the David Rubenstein Forum – located in the Hyde Park neighborhood, on the University of Chicago campus.

Additional details:
- BARDAVID is not open on Sundays
- Full-time is minimum of 32 hours, traditionally offering a full 40 hours
- We have the flexibility to offer (5) 8 hour days or (4) 10 hour days
- AM shift: approximately 7AM – 3PM
- PM shift: approximately 2PM – 10PM
- Meal breaks are mandatory and you receive a complimentary family meal each shift
- Schedules are posted 2 weeks in advance

The David Rubenstein Forum is a University-wide facility for scholarly and academic discourse on campus. The venue supports and promotes inquiry, the open exchange of ideas, and the power of academic, interdisciplinary convening. The Forum is located at the intersection of East 60th Street and Woodlawn Avenue. It serves as a place where scholars gather and exchange ideas through activities that range from talks and workshops to multi-day conferences that span academic disciplines. The facility provides spaces and amenities that are not currently available on campus, including highly collaborative, well-appointed meeting and event rooms commensurate with the types of conferences, special events, workshops, and meetings that University faculty and academic departments host. BASIC FUNCTION: The Bartender will serve drinks and food at the bar.
QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, & WORK EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Three years bartending experience.
- One year fine dining or high-end resort experience.
- Extensive liquor, beer, wine and mixology knowledge.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Pleasant and helpful personality.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Compose and be knowledgeable of standard drinks and liquors or wines specific to restaurant bar.
- Plan and maintain par levels for bar inventory. Prepare daily orders for bar items to maintain pars.
- Responsible for cash handling and bank procedures as outlined by the Accounting Department.
- Perform accurate bar inventory on the 10th, 20th and last day of each month or as deemed necessary by the Director of Restaurants or the Restaurant Manager.
- Responsible for learning suggestive selling techniques and using them during services.
- Maintain cleanliness of all workplace areas that apply to the bar.
- Maintain perfectly crisp uniform.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
- Respond to any reasonable task as assigned by supervisor or manager.
- Greet guests as they enter restaurant. Take and return guests coats as needed.
- Deliver cocktails to tables as needed.
- Assist in other Food and Beverage departments as needed.
