Job Details

The Rudder, an iconic restaurant and bar since the 1950s, is seeking full-time passionate Line Cooks. Located in the Rocky Neck neighborhood of Gloucester, The Rudder has a decidedly neighborhood vibe that is warm and inviting. The restaurant also invites guests to visit us by boat and dine with us right on the water. Combining the fine food and attentive hospitality of Chef Barbara Lynch, The Rudder offers a rotating menu highlighting Gloucester’s local seafood and operates April-December each year (seasonal). 

Our team of talented and passionate individuals is the foundation of everything we do.

Representing a variety of backgrounds and experiences, everyone is united by a shared commitment to excellence, education, and hospitality. Candidates must have availability on weekends, days, and evenings as well as experience in a high volume full service restaurant. Ideal candidates will thrive in a team culture focused on exceeding guest expectations. 

Qualifications: 

  • Ideal applicants will also show that they work well with others and support positive teamwork within the kitchen
  • Great interpersonal skills
  • 1-2 years of experience in a similar role at an upscale high volume establishment with a focus on French/Italian cuisine
  • Passionate about hospitality
  • Willingess to embrace the challenge to excel
Responsibilities: 
  • Set up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies
  • Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
  • Follow clear direction in food preparation and storing
  • Execute techniques under the direction of the Sous Chef and Executive Chef

This is an opportunity to work for a well-renowned restaurant collective that encourages internal growth and promotes from within; you will hone your skills with a management team working directly under Chef Barbara. Applicants should possess a strong desire to further their careers and demonstrate good leadership skills. Candidates should share a passion for ingredients, technique, discipline and hospitality. Compensation: Hourly (Based on Experience)
