La Joie de Vivre is an independent bookstore and coffee shop offering books in both French and English.

Our name, a common French expression, showcases that literature and arts are, in our perspective, awakening senses and the taste of life.

We aim to provide relief from the hectic New York lifestyle by offering journeys through books, stories, and thinkers that enrich inner lives. Within our store, you will be able to hear poets reciting their verses at any time of the day, listen to the most beautiful ballads, enjoy encounters with writers from every corner of the globe, and experience a wide spectrum of events, including children's activities, language lessons, and book-themed social clubs.

If we can help disconnect from screens, ignite imagination, open doors to alterity, new perspectives, and cultures, that achievement would be worth more than anything.

Our team of passionate and professional booksellers is dedicated to promoting reading and serving all education stakeholders, helping to create a place where books come alive and where writers, teachers, book lovers, and librarians feel at home. We are committed to offering the finest aspects of a bookstore experience, believing that in today's world, bookstores are an essential need, and that reading has always been the best medicine.

Because a bookstore is a vital bastion of freedom, we maintain a strict stance against any works advocating violence towards any group, undermining human rights, or contravening the law.
