Located between Union Station and Chinatown in D.C.’s East End, Bar Spero is the latest concept from Reverie Chef Johnny Spero, at the heart, a lively seafood bar and grill. Embodying the dynamic energy of the District’s downtown culture, the space is designed for chance encounters and lively conversation.

We seek people who share our desire to develop genuine connections with our guests, making them feel welcome, relaxed, and at home. Behind the scenes, we put as much thought into food and beverage as we do into the service operations. We're seeking passionate individuals who take pride in their craft, maintain impeccable standards, and collaborate seamlessly as part of a team.

As a Server at Bar Spero, your primary responsibility is to provide guests with the utmost service excellence, overseeing the complete dining experience, from food and beverages to overall satisfaction. Servers should possess leadership qualities, exhibit a personable demeanor toward guests, and possess an innate ability to anticipate their needs, all while exuding warmth, knowledge, and hospitality. Our Servers operate cohesively, facilitating food service and table maintenance, and as such, they must exhibit an inherent drive for success and teamwork.

At Bar Spero, we uphold a 'whole house' philosophy, where every department collaboratively supports and motivates one another to attain our ultimate goal of guest satisfaction. As a Server, you will regularly interact with various departments and must excel in effective and respectful communication with colleagues and managers alike.

We have both full-time and part-time opportunities. Bar Spero is currently open seven nights a week plus lunch on Saturday & Sunday.

The ideal candidate possesses the following skills or attributes

• A genuine passion for the hospitality industry
• The capacity to master extensive food, wine, and bar menus
• A consistently positive attitude in interactions with guests and colleagues
• Acute attention to detail
• An aspiration to create unforgettable guest experiences
• The capability to offer informed recommendations based on guest preferences
• A problem-solving mindset when addressing guest concerns
• Proficiency in adhering to cash handling and payment procedures
• Comfort with extended periods of standing and repetitive tasks (such as walking, bending, and standing)
• Receptiveness to constructive feedback and an aptitude for thriving within a team dynamic
• Meets the minimum age requirement to serve alcoholic beverages in Washington, D.C.
• Availability on weekends is mandatory
• Additional education, training, certificates, or prior experience are highly valued.
