Host Role & Duties
A Host presents a positive first impression here at Agnes. The duties of a host are to establish friendliness, excellent service and high standards. The Host also greets Guests upon arrival, informs Guests of their wait time, monitors a waiting list, enters Guest names into the computer system, shows Guests to their table and bids Guests farewell as they leave.
A Host must be able to carry natural conversation with Guests without sounding scripted or intrusive. Additionally, the Host cares for our Guests performing light housekeeping duties such as cleaning glasses and menus and ensures restrooms are clean, stocked and orderly. As a member of an energetic team, the Host may also need to answer the phones and fill to-go orders when needed. Availability must include nights, weekends and most holidays. They will need to be trained to be well-versed in the restaurant layout, Resy (reservation system), and general operations.
Responsibilities:
- Greet incoming and departing Guests warmly with a genuine smile and eye contact; escort
them to assigned dining area; present menus; announce waiter's name
- Use visual cues to seat Guests in either the bar or dining area depending on their preference
- Answer incoming calls to the restaurant and provide appropriate service
- Manage the flow of Guests into the Dining and Bar areas, provide accurate wait times to incoming Guests if appropriate
- Tend to special Guest needs and requests
- Ensure menus are organized
- Greeting guests, answering phones, booking reservations
- Ensure floor plan is set up for the day with appropriate celebration cards, number of chairs, and high chairs
- Ensuring proper flow of seating
- Notifying managers, chefs and servers of VIPS
- Strong Communication skills
- Communication with staff throught the duration of the shift
Full time employees are offered medical insurance after 90 days.
All gratuities are pooled, both credit and cash. Tip Pool calculation for each job category is based on points assigned for each specific job.
