Green City Market position with Verzênay Chicago - 2024  - Wednesday and Saturdays; potentially Thursdays too.

Verzênay Chicago is hiring for a part time, weekday and/or weekend sales position for the 2024 Green City Farmer’s market. Based in Lincoln Park, Verzênay Patisserie has been a presence at the GCM since 2014 and is looking for someone who is excited to spread the love of fine baked goods and pastries!

Farmer's Market Staff - Customer Service Managers (Lincoln Park, Chicago) – 1 to 2 positions available

Verzênay Chicago is hiring for 2 positions on a part time, weekend sales position for the 2024 Green City Farmer’s market. Based in Lincoln Park, Verzênay Patisserie has been a presence at the GCM since 2014 and is looking for someone who is excited to spread our commitment for finely crafted baked goods, pastries and desserts!

Pay: $17 to $20/hour plus cash tips from the market - depending on experience and expertise Time: Starts early at 5am to 2pm; Thursday market (to be confirmed) starts at 2pm to 8pm in Lincoln Square area.

We are a bakery, pastry, and dessert business, and are looking for customer service team members, as swell as delivery driver for our business.

Days of the week: On a consistent basis, with approx.:

  • -  April: Saturdays for 9 hours

  • -  May to Oct: Wednesday and Saturday for a total of 18 hours per week; potentially Thursdays too as noted above.

  • -  Nov: first two Saturdays for 9 hours

Key Skills and Requirements:

For market staff positions: unload packages and products from van and setup at the vendor booth - tents, tables and setup the products. Do the sales along with other team members. Must be comfortable moving and lifting weights around 30-40 pounds.

Very important to work as a team member. Maintain food safety standard to store and handle our packaged and prepared food products. Strictly follow rules safety protocols as required by the GCM market regulations and as per City of Chicago and Verzenay Chicago’s requirements.

Load stuff from the kitchen into the van, be able to drive our ford transit van to  themarket. which is couple of miles from the bakery.

Start at 5 – 5.15amand will end at 2pm

Other Perks Include:

If interested, additional hours potentially available if you are interested within our store and also in driving to get few deliveries done or participation in other events that we put in and around Chicago.

Bakery / Patisserie, Cafe

Chef and Pâtissière Arshiya Farheen decided to make her love for baking into a profession. She spent over a year in Paris, where she studied at the French school of culinary arts: Ferrandi, Lenotre and Christophe Michalak Masterclass; worked at hotel Le Meurice and at boulangerie-pâtisserie Delmontel. She returned to her hometown in Chicago and along with her husband and business partner Aqeel, began her career by selling at the Green City Market as well as supplying to hotels, coffee shops and now, about 15 Whole Foods stores in and around Chicago.

Mission and Vision:

At Verzênay, we are all about sharing our passion for artisanally crafted savory and sweet baked goods, pastries and desserts, using all natural ingredients including natural colors and extracts. We source many of our key ingredients locally when possible. Our chocolate comes from companies that use sustainable cocoa.

Every product we make is a refinement in flavor, texture and appearance, and we want our customers and clients to experience the pleasure in savoring our products, as we had in making it for them.
