We are seeking a talented and passionate sommelier to join our team at our new fine-dining restaurant, Costeno. The sommelier will play a key role in curating an exceptional wine program, elevating the dining experience, and ensuring that our guests receive impeccable service.
This position is made for someone who is driven by the need to create memorable experiences each and every day. This person finds passion being present on the floor during service; directly impacting the guest and teammate experience.
We expect you to communicate, coordinate and work well with other teammates, managers and guests. Most of all, we want you to have FUN since you will play a huge role in creating that memorable guest experience!

What exactly you will be doing…
To help you understand your role in working for a progressive, environment-conscious, world-class organization, the following is a list of your essential job responsibilities. Please keep in mind that this list is not all-inclusive and that you may be asked to perform other job tasks by your supervisors/managers not listed below in the constant quest to provide “out of this world” customer service experience for our guests:
- Curate and maintain an exceptional wine list that complements the cuisine, showcases diverse regions, and aligns with the restaurant's concept and standards.
- Source and procure wines from reputable distributors, wineries, and importers, negotiating prices and terms to achieve the highest quality and value.
- Provide expert guidance and recommendations to guests on wine selection, food pairings, and wine service, enhancing their dining experience and satisfaction.
- Conduct staff training sessions to educate servers, bartenders, and other team members on wine knowledge, service techniques, and sales strategies.
- Collaborate closely with the culinary team to develop wine pairings for new menu items, seasonal specials, and tasting menus.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with guests, fostering loyalty and repeat business through personalized service and attention to detail.
- Stay current with industry trends, wine regions, grape varieties, and production methods, continually expanding and updating wine knowledge.
What qualities are we looking for?
You got skills? If you are able to perform the following, then you have definitely come to the right place…
- Certified sommelier with a recognized accreditation (e.g., Court of Master Sommeliers, Wine & Spirit Education Trust).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a sommelier in a fine-dining or luxury hotel setting.
- Extensive knowledge of wine regions, grape varieties, vintages, and production techniques, with a passion for sharing this expertise with others.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact confidently and effectively with guests, colleagues, and suppliers.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, with meticulous attention to detail and a focus on maintaining high standards of wine service.
- Proven track record of driving wine sales, maximizing revenue, and contributing to the success of the restaurant.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate the needs of the restaurant and its guests.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with the capacity to remain calm and composed under pressure.
- Ability to anticipate needs and over-deliver whenever possible
- Able to change direction and work on multiple projects aspects at once. Creatively solve problems
Background must-have:
- Valid Sommelier Certification
- Current, legal and unrestricted ability to work in the United States
- Open Availability
- Minimum of 3-5 years previous Sommelier experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
- Ability to clearly and pleasantly communicate in English with guests and teammates/management alike, in person, in writing and on the telephone
