Sous Chef

Lao Peng You is a family-owned Chinese restaurant in the West town neighborhood of Chicago looking for a sous chef to join the leadership team. We prioritize quality food, a healthy work environment, and having a good time. We take our work seriously but not ourselves.

Leadership expectations include but are not limited to:

• Maintaining a very high standard in all aspects, of cooking, food quality, and consistency.
• Assisting with menu changes.
• Managing the day to day operations of the kitchen.
• Upholding company standards.
• Training, and mentoring our kitchen team.
• Streamlining daily tasks and maximizing efficiency.
• This is a small team. Applicants should expect to work a station and wear multiple hats.

Experience and abilities:

• 3-4 years of kitchen experience.
• We are looking for persons with a passion for hospitality and honest communication. Ideally we want to work with someone eager to grow and learn with.
• Someone who has a positive attitude and has no problem multitasking.
• Bonus points for pastry experience.
• Of course, interest and/or experience in Chinese cuisine.
• Want to make good food with good people.
