Rigor Hill Market is a newly opened, neighborhood cafe and marketplace. Our mission is to highlight produce from the Hudson Valley. Our farm is located in Ghent, NY. We showcase fresh seasonal produce, cooked and prepared foods, and baked goods. We will serve coffee and other beverage. We are partnered with One White Street restaurant and Rigor Hill Farm.
The market has a micro bakery with its own full production. A kitchen to support all prepared foods. We are looking to fill out our team of friendly and caring individuals who will help us establish our presence in the Tribeca community. General Description: The Baker is responsible for assisting in all baking operations of Rigor Hill Market while always upholding market standards. The Baker works in cooperation with the Head Baker, Chef and management to ensure efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities
Service
- Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies
- Prepare bread/baked goods for service
- Prepare menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
- Answer, report to, and follow Head Baker and/or Sous Chef’s instructions
- Properly clean stations and stores ingredient at all times
- Stock inventory appropriately
- Maintain sanitation to DOH standards, keep work area clean and organized
- Inform supervisor on duty immediately of any DOH or OSHA/workplace safety violations
- Update knowledge and skills by participating in staff training opportunities
- Support and assist your fellow team members whenever possible
- Complete other duties as assigned by management
- Communicate all necessary client information with the team to set everyone up for success (allergy alerts, VIPs, special requests, celebrations, etc.)
Sanitation, Hygiene, and Safety
- Maintain and strictly abide by state sanitation/health regulations and hotel requirements and procedures
- Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment; use equipment and tools only as intended, properly and safely
- Inspect the cleanliness and organization of the line and workstations; rectify any deficiencies
- Inspect the cleanliness and working condition of all tools, equipment, and supplies, ensuring everything complies with standards
- Inform supervisor on duty immediately of any DOH or OSHA/workplace safety violations
- Maintain proper storage procedures as specified by Department of Health requirements
Station Set Up
- Set up workstation with required mise en place, tools, equipment and supplies according to standards
- Work with the rest of the service team to ensure that the kitchen is fully set up on time
Brand
- Understand and communicate Rigor Hill Market’s values and brand philosophy to customers and staff and set the tone for a positive work environment
- Promote the Rigor Hill Market vision while establishing us as an innovator within our industry
- Actively involved in Rigor Hill Market publicity opportunities and community outreach
- Walks the talk with who we are and what we stand for internally and externally
- Brings to life a guest-centric vision with our retail operations

Experience/Education
- Minimum 1+ yrs experience as a pastry chef, baker or line cook
- Ability to lift and move 50+ lbs
- NYC Food Protection Certificate (preferred)
- Able to work nights, weekends, and holidays, and variable schedule, per the needs of the business
- Ability to walk, stand, and/or bend continuously and for extended periods as required to perform essential functions
- Ability to perform essential job functions when working under stress, in fast-paced environments
