Position: Sous Chef/ Lead Prep Cook

Responsibilities:

  1. Culinary Expertise:

   - Assist the Executive Chef in planning and executing diverse, high-quality menus.

   - Oversee food preparation, cooking hot and cold line, and presentation, ensuring it meets our high standards of quality and consistency.

   - Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new dishes and maintain a fresh and exciting menu.

  1. Kitchen Management:

   - Supervise and train kitchen staff, ensuring they adhere to food safety and sanitation standards.

   - Manage inventory, order supplies, and monitor kitchen equipment to ensure smooth daily operations..

  1. Event Preparation:

   - Participate in event planning meetings to understand the client's needs and menu preferences.

   - Execute food production and plating for events, both on-site and off-site, ensuring a seamless service experience.

   - Maintain a clean and organized workspace while on-site.

  1. Team Collaboration:

   - Foster a positive and collaborative working environment by leading by example.

   - Communicate effectively with kitchen staff, and management to ensure efficient teamwork.

   - Assist in staff development and provide constructive feedback to enhance skills and performance.

  1. Food Safety and Compliance:

   - Ensure that all food handling and storage practices comply with city of Chicago and state of Illinois regulations.

   - Monitor and maintain accurate records of temperature logs, HACCP plans, and kitchen safety protocols.

Qualifications:

- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or similar role, preferably in a catering environment.

- Culinary degree or equivalent culinary training.

- Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen management practices.

- Excellent leadership and communication skills.

- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining a positive attitude.

- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

 -Hours will fluctuate with client demands, but  appx 40-45 hours a week Tuesday - Saturday between 7 am and 7 pm with some evening on site events and occasional Sundays. and Mondays.
