We are currently seeking an experienced full-time Line Cook to join our culinary crew who are passionate, creative and care deeply about the food they create. *Minimum 2 years experience is required*


* We are operating a tip-less model and will provide a competitive hourly rate
* Hourly rate starts at $19 + 8% (minimum) of sales distributed on a bi-weekly basis, based on hours worked (historical average hourly rate $22-25)

* Shift meal included
* Benefits: Health insurance, sick leave, PTO

Responsibilities and Qualifications:
*Line Cooks are responsible for the preparation, production and presentation of all menu items and weekly specials
* Prepare menu items according to prescribed recipes and/or special requests
* Available to work Thursday-Monday, generally 3:15pm - 11:30pm though we are flexible as well 

- Willingness to learn a new cuisine

- Get along well with others and be a team player
- Safely and effectively use and operate all necessary tools and equipment, including knives
- Ability to stand and walk for an entire shift and move safely through all areas of the restaurant, which may include stairs, uneven or slick surfaces
- Multitask calmly and effectively under pressure
- Follow all prescribed portioning controls and par levels
- Maintain food safety and quality standards
- Ability to read a thermometer correctly
- Maintain menu item counts and communicate to chefs when quantities are low
- Accurately account for all items prepped
- Understand and follow the food allergy procedure and special orders/restrictions
- Comply with all safety and sanitation guidelines and procedures
- Other duties will be assigned as needed
- Food Handler Certificate required

Thattu started off as a pop-up in 2018 in Bridgeport by Chef Margaret Pak. In the second iteration in 2019, Co-Owners Margaret and Vinod created Thattu - a counter service food stall located in the West Loop. In less than a year as a food stall, Thattu gained local and national recognition as 2020 Food & Wine Magazine Best New Restaurant and 2020 James Beard Awards Semi-Finalist Best New Restaurant.

Now we are excited! and ready for our brick-and-mortar location in the up and coming Avondale neighborhood. We opened at the end of April and about 5 months later, The New York Times Restaurant List included Thattu in the 50 places in the US that they're most excited about right now!

We are currently seeking part time prep cooks who are passionate, creative and care deeply about the food they create.
