Job Details
We are looking for a strong and passionate
SOUS CHEF and EX SOUS CHEF/CDC
to join our client, who is a successful James beard award Restaurant Group in NYC with 5 different restaurants.

In specific we are looking for CHEFS with experience in
Italian Cuisine or
Middle Eastern Cuisine or
New American/Farm to table

Successful candidates will have a minimum of 3 years of management experience working in a professional kitchen. Candidates will manage food and labor costs, expedite busy service, plan and oversee production and communicate effectively. She/he/they can handle multiple tasks in a composed, friendly and hospitable manner and has the speed and skill to manage the fast-pace of our restaurant. Successful candidates will have experience and be able to demonstrate competency in the following areas:

● Proven communication skills; comfortable speaking and explaining dishes; Able to respond to emails, create documents, and follow prescribed protocols; Spanish language proficiency a plus but not required;
● Experience with scheduling along with labor cost management; temperament that promotes teamwork; recognizes the importance of being a teacher while upholding the standards and ethics of the restaurant;
● Managing food cost & budgeting; proficiency in how to write and cost recipes; comfortable maintaining food cost targets; values maximum product utilization
● As a Chef, you will be expected to expedite busy service maintaining standards of quality, responding to all issues to ensure a smooth service; knowledgeable of DOH standards; equipment and facilities maintenance is a priority
● Have an understanding of the restaurant’s cuisine, be able to create and compose a menu along with descriptions; be able to prepare for seasonal changes
● Experience with restaurant openings a plus, but not required

SALARY:
$65.000/90.000 based on level of experience and title

BENEFITS:
Paid Time off (PTO) offered at two weeks per year in the first year of employment and three weeks per year as of the third anniversary year of employment. The PTO benefit is available after the first 120 days of employment. Details of the PTO benefit are detailed in the Cookshop Handbook which will be provided to you during the on-boarding process.

Additional employee benefits:

● Health Care and Dental Care Plan (75% employer contribution), eligible after 30 days employment
● TransitChek pre-tax transit benefit, available as of first day of employment
● Dining privilege, available once per quarter during Q1 and Q4, and twice per quarter during Q2 and Q3 (a total of six times per year) at Bowery Group restaurants, eligible after 30 days employment
● Citibike membership, eligible after 30 days of employment
