About Us

The James Beard Awarded The Grey restaurant is a renowned dining establishment in Savannah, GA, known for its commitment to celebrating port city southern cuisine by serving our guests exceptional dishes using the highest quality, freshest ingredients, locally sourced whenever possible. Headed by Co-Founder and Chef Partner, Mashama Bailey, The Grey serves diverse and discriminating guests that appreciate fine dining and exceptional food experiences.

Position Overview

We are seeking individuals who are who are career minded, goal oriented and hard working to fulfill the role of Line Cook. In their position they communicate with staff daily with questions about pars, recipes, and inventory and complete all lists while maintaining a clean workspace. General duties include but are not limited to preparation of food, workstations and the Back of the House. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepares dishes of The Grey restaurant according to established recipes and standards of excellence
  • Completes allotted prep projects daily
  • Anticipates weekly prep projects and understands how to prioritize them
  • Assists with unpacking and putting away daily deliveries
  • Maintains an orderly and clean walk-in refrigerator(s) and freezer
  • Manages challenges with a positive attitude
  • Adheres to uniform and grooming standards
  • Behaves professionally as would be expected and with operational knowledge and experience
  • Adheres to the Department of Health sanitation and food handling guidelines
  • Develops and maintains working relationships with all departments, including Pastry, Bread, and Front of House

 Successful Candidates Will Have:

  • Proven experience as a Line Cook or in a similar role in a casual fine dining restaurant or culinary setting
  • Strong work ethic and ability to successfully work within a team environment
  • The ability to listen intently, process information and to provide clear and accurate results
  • A sense of humor and the ability to maintain a consistent demeanor with staff
  • Current Food Handling Certification as locally required
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs and stand without support for long periods of time
