Mister Jiu's is looking to fill the position of Sous Chef.
Mister Jiu's is a contemporary Chinese American restaurant in a historic restaurant space in San Francisco Chinatown.
You will manage a prep cook team to complete all neccessary tasks for the day and week. The concentration of cooking will be on sauces, stocks, pantry production and fermentations. We are looking for a knowledgeable manager sound in cooking techniques, who practices a high standard of cleanliness and chooses to lead by example. We are looking for an individual that is a leader who can motivate cooks, promotes a positive environment and strives to deepen their knowledge of ingredients. Knowledge of Chinese cooking is desirable, but interest in learning Chinese cooking and techniques is necessary.
You will be joining an existing team that has won prestigious awards (michelin 1 star, james beard) together and aspires to create food that is memorable and meaningful. We have established systems that we share with the intent that they can continued to be improved upon. You will work with small farms and seasonal ingredients to curate products for a menu looks to express the current seasons peak produce.
