INTRODUCTION
The cocktail bar and restaurant, Only Love Strangers, is a reflective oasis in downtown NYC at the border of the East Village and Lower East Side serving Mediterranean inspired fare focusing on Spanish, Italian, and Greek influences and elegant cocktails. The design is sleek and monochromatic. The two story space transcends 1960’s/70’s surrealism and utilizes different elements created by NYC artists throughout. Weekly live Jazz, of all styles, creates a spellbinding experience whether surrounded by loved ones or strangers.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Servers are responsible for providing hospitality and satisfaction to restaurant guests, while building a relationship with the guest to retain a repeat guest list and gathering any constructive feedback to ensure constant experience of our food, beverage and guest-service improvement. They are also in charge of the service area and leading the section team by example. Handling daily team member relations and we encourage problem-solving by team members through proper training and self improvement and leadership empowerment.

This position is engaging and provides prompt, courteous and efficient food and beverage service where attention to detail is of the utmost importance. As the primary point of contact for guest interactions you are responsible for explaining and answering questions the guests have and serving food and beverages using their knowledge, hospitality and service skills that we will be providing intense training and development.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Take food and beverage orders from guests, enter orders in POS system
- Ensure that all orders are accurate and brought to each table in a timely manner
- Confirm orders with the chefs and bartenders whenever a clarification is requested
- Offer suggestions by using suggestive selling techniques (daily specials, cocktails, appetizers, entrees, desserts, and after dinner beverages)
- Perform side work at the start and end of each shift as required by service station assignment.
- Maintain cleanliness and condition of the work areas and equipment.
- Implement steps of service for guests consistently
- Ensure guests are satisfied with the food and service, respond promptly and courteously to any requests
- Prepare final bill, present check to guest, accept payment, process credit card charges or
- make change (if applicable).
- Be ready and willing to assist fellow servers as situations arise.
- Assist with setting tables and rearranging tables to accommodate larger parties
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
- Required cleanliness, organization and attention to details
- Have knowledge of all menu items, garnishes, contents and preparation methods
- Have knowledge of beverage lists and promotions
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of restaurant experience in the hospitality industry
- Michelin restaurant experience preferred
- Must have excellent knowledge of fine dining room and service procedures and functions
- Outstanding guest services skills
- Be able to communicate clearly and effectively
- Must be a team player/work well with others
- Possess basic math skills and ability to handle money and operate a cash register and POS system
- Professional presentation and positive attitude
- Ability to stand or walk for long periods of time
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to work in a high volume environment
- NYC Food Handlers Permit preferred
Both Management and Chefs may give special tasks as the business needs. These tasks include specific instructions that may be outside of your scope.
Physical demands of the job:
This position requires standing for long periods of time, pushing and pulling up to 60 pounds and lifting up to 50 pounds, bending and twisting about 20% of the time. Working around food allergens, and around hot ovens, working with cleaning allergens.
