Holywater is seeking a Bar Manager with elevated, high-volume bar or restaurant experience. Bar Managers are an integral part of our collaborative front-of-house team, helping to create exceptional guest experiences.



Holywater is an upscale cocktail bar in Tribeca from the team behind Grand Banks (and a handful of other nautically inspired ventures). The maritime-themed, underground space consists of three intimate rooms – a cocktail bar, a lounge, and a dining room — filled with artifacts collected over the years. The menu is concise, and everything on it is what you want. It leans on classic and forgotten cocktails, wines you can feel good about, easy-drinking beers, oysters and fruits de mer, an exceptional bistro burger, and gumbo on Monday nights. It's the bar you’ve always wanted to go to.

Job Overview

Position Summary

The Bar Manager is an ambassador to our community and is ultimately responsible for ensuring an elevated level of customer service. The person in this position reports to the General Manager and assists them in the daily oversight of all Front of House operations.

The Bar Manager reports directly to the General Manager. The Bar Manager should have proven experience in high-volume and upscale settings with at least 3 years experience ordering and purchasing for a high-volume establishment. This person needs to have strong communication and interpersonal skills with an in-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices- must possess a NY Food Handlers Certificate and be TIPS certified . The Bar Manager will work closely with the General Manager on scheduling and labor management of the bar staff.  They will also assist the GM with weekly liquor inventory and purchasing. The Bar Manager has an exceptional eye for detail in regards to bar presentation, drink construction, and bar service.  They are self-disciplined, self-taught, and self-motivated.  They must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and make effective decisions under pressure, keeping guest experience at the forefront. They are able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Report directly to and collaborate with the General Manager to oversee daily operations.
  • Utilize your extensive experience in high-volume, upscale settings to manage bar operations, including a minimum of 3 years in ordering and purchasing.
  • Exhibit strong communication and interpersonal abilities to engage effectively with staff and patrons.
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of health, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Hold a NY Food Handlers Certificate and TIPS certification.
    Work in tandem with the General Manager on staff scheduling, labor management, weekly liquor inventory, and purchasing.
  • Demonstrate an exceptional eye for detail in bar presentation, drink crafting, and overall service.
  • Be self-disciplined, self-motivated, and proactive in learning and self-improvement.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment, making sound decisions under pressure with a focus on enhancing the guest experience.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proven experience in high-volume, upscale bar management.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Valid NY Food Handlers Certificate and TIPS certification.
