ABOUT THE PROJECT:

The Howard Hughes Corporation, the nationally recognized real estate company overseeing the re-development of New York City’s Seaport District, envisions the repositioning of the property as a magnet for attracting locals and visitors alike with a unique, year-round blend of entertainment, food and retail offerings. The centerpiece of the Seaport District’s renaissance is an entirely re-imagined historic Tin Building, featuring a one-of-a-kind Marketplace and entertainment venue operated by renowned chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten.

The Tin Building will feature multiple unique venues: Several full-service restaurants, fast casual and counter dining outlets as well as 10,000 sf of retail featuring private label products, grab and go, grocery and CPGs. To support this significant operation the Marketplace will feature a large commissary kitchen and bakery, as well as an exhibition kitchen that will provide media opportunities.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Gift-Wrapping Associate is responsible for the pivotal role in creating a memorable and personalized experience for our guests during special occasions and gift-giving seasons. Your expertise in gift wrapping, product selection, brand representation and creative presentation will enhance our customers' satisfaction and contribute to the overall success of the organization. This is a seasonal position estimated to last throughout the holiday season.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Skillfully and creatively wrap a variety of gifts to high standards, ensuring each package is aesthetically pleasing and in line with customer preferences.
  • Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers with gift selection, offering wrapping options, and answering any questions or concerns.
  • Provide guests with gift wrapping options to suit the occasion, including the use of appropriate wrapping materials, ribbons, bows, and embellishments based on the available options of the department.
  • Work efficiently to meet customer demands during peak gifting seasons, ensuring timely gift-wrapping services.
  • Maintain consistent quality in gift wrapping, checking for any imperfections and making necessary adjustments to ensure a flawless presentation.
  • Monitor and replenish gift wrapping supplies, including paper, plastic, ribbon, tape, and accessories, to ensure an adequate stock at all times.
  • Keep the gift-wrapping station clean and organized, providing an inviting and clutter-free environment for guests at all times.
  • Promote additional gift-related products, such as gift cards, boxes, or decorative accessories, to enhance the customer's gift-giving experience.
  • Perform all other tasks, duties, projects as assigned and/or per business need.
  • Assist customers assembling bespoke gift boxes to suit customer needs and requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong gift-wrapping skills with attention to detail and creativity.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Efficient time management and organizational abilities, particularly during peak gifting seasons.
  • Knowledge of different wrapping techniques and materials.
  • Sales experience and the ability to upsell related products.
  • Neat and presentable appearance.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, holidays.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, nights, and holidays, as required.
  • Ability to perform the essential job functions consistent safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for prolong periods of time.
  • Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly frequent movements from place to place within the store.  Bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms, and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment.
  • Climbing steps regularly.

The base pay range for this position is between $17.00 - 19.00 per hour. The determination of what a specific employee in this job classification is paid depends on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, prior employment history/job-related knowledge, qualifications and skills, etc.
