Established in 2014 by Chef Nicholas Stefanelli & Paul Jeon, Creative Food Group takes our guests through culinary experiences from the fine dining critically acclaimed Masseria to culinary collective Officina, and now to the new luxury hotel The Morrow in Washington's vibrant Union Market neighborhood, a part of the DC Curio Collection by Hilton.
The new Greek Restaurant opening this fall from Chef Nicholas Stefanelli & Creative Food Group at Midtown Center is now building its opening team. Philotimo is Chef Stefanelli's vision to tell the story of Greeces gastronomic history and culture through the lens of food and wine.
As Sous Chef you will oversee all culinary restaurant operations and work directly with our culinary leadership team and service team. Philotimo is seeking a demonstrated leader with a positive disposition and a genuine desire to take care of people. The ability to multi-task and ensure consistency is a must.

Required Qualifications:
- At least 2 years of sous chef experience in a fine dining or upscale casual restaurant setting and 1+ years of management experience
- Minimum of an associate’s degree in culinary arts
- Proficiency in English (speaking, reading and writing)
- Strong oral, written and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adapt and make decisions quickly in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to lead by example and to teach and mentor others
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge and familiarity with a variety of Greek cuisine
- Valid DC Food Handlers/ServSafe certification
- Experience with systems like Harri, Toast, Culinary Agents, etc.

Key Responsibilities:
- Work with the Chef de Cuisine to produce diversified menus in accordance with the restaurant’s policy and vision
- Inspire new dishes which appeal to the Chef de Cuisine and Executive Chef whenever required
- Discover talented chefs and train them in order to reach the high standards of the location
- Train the auxiliary kitchen staff in order to provide best results in minimum time and using the maximum available resources
- Supervise, order and maintain standards in the kitchen during working hours
- Maintain purchasing, inventory, and food cost standards
- Ensure consistency in menu items
- Ensure all new employees are trained according to restaurant standards
- Develop and provide input on budgets and cost analysis
- Ensure all equipment is in good working order and being properly maintained
- Ensure all safety and sanitation standards are met
- Supervise staff, guide and teach subordinates
- Assist pastry chef in the production of baked goods
- Assist with developing menu with chefs and culinary team
- Plan and prepare a wide variety of goods
- Test quality of ingredients and keep track of inventory and ordering
- When ordering keep budget under control, without sacrificing quality of goods
- Analyze food costs and determine cost-effectiveness for goods and services
- Provide thorough training for personnel and new recruitment as necessary
- Ensure kitchen equipment is in good working order and meets all requirements
- Keep up with new trends in the industry and apply to the business
- Actively participate in weekly management meetings
- Serve as a leader, a teacher, and an asset of Creative Food Group.
- Work with senior management to develop key systems for organization, operations, and communication.
- Work closely with the culinary management team in overseeing purchasing, inventory, and labor management.
- Provide culinary creativity and drive R&D for new menu items, training and costing
- Take ownership of the restaurant in total. Continually strive for the success not only of the kitchen but the restaurant as a whole.
- Correctly enforce company policies and safety procedures to make sure compliance.
- Personally strive towards the growth of dishwashers, prep cooks and line cooks in at Officina Wharf
- Professionally evaluate employee performance

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
