“Remember when…” are usually words that precede a story from a different time or lyrics to a song sung by a nostalgic crooner…Nowadays, “remember when” seems to abut every conversation from anyone yearning for the life they had before the world shut down. Pre-pandemic, the owners of Laughing Horse Coffee and Tea Co., Mike and Ali Nazzaro, were music industry veterans living and working from their home office in Harrison, New York. Like many others pivoting in 2020, Mike, now a local Realtor and Ali, a Wealth Strategist, are the first to acknowledge that getting to this point hasn’t been all champagne cruises and caviar dreams.

In 2017, Ali and Mike were living in NYC when they found out that a spontaneous twin pregnancy would turn their family of 3 to 5 in 9 short months. A native to Westchester County, growing up in Larchmont and a Mamaroneck High School Alum, Ali left the big apple to create a new life with Mike and new memories in a town close to home. It didn’t take long for the pair to grow attached to the town, it is a perfect place to raise a family and establish friendships that last a lifetime.

That said, products of the 80s, Ali and Mike grew on up shows like Saved By the Bell, Beverly Hills 90210, Friends, and Threes Company. All great shows that had one very important thing in common, a local hangout. Whether it be “The Peach Pit” or “The Max”, “Central Perk” or “The Regal Beagle”, Ali and Mike knew from the moment they moved to Harrison, that the town was missing that local hangout. A place where kids could come after school, somewhere parents could escape their home offices to grab a cup of coffee or tea, or just a place you could walk into and the person behind the counter knew your “usual”. This concept and feeling is what the Nazzaro’s are looking to bring to this idyllic town. We aren’t a chain, we aren’t backed by big business. Our goal and motivation is to give Westchester County and the people that live here what they want, build a place for people to “Sip Local” and Be Social.

As for the shop, we have sought all local vendors that have a wonderful story. Our Coffee Distributors come from Yonkers, NY. Fairtrade Certified and Ethically Sourced, we work to offer the Highest Quality Beans for our customers. We work to also offer small batch goods in a variety of retail options. Laughing Horse was recently awarded "Best New Coffee Shop" 2023 by Westchester Magazine. LHC has also been featured on Fox5 NY & News12 NY.

Our pastries and baked goods come from world famous Balthazar Bakery. Started in 1997 with their flagship shop and restaurant nestled in the heart of Soho, New York, Balthazar brings a sense of decadence and comfort, European flair with a local taste, the perfect accompaniment to the beverages offered up at LHC.
