The centerpiece of the Seaport District’s renaissance is an entirely re-imagined historic Tin Building, featuring a one-of-a-kind Marketplace and entertainment venue operated by renowned chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten.

The Tin Building by Jean Georges will feature multiple unique venues: Several full-service restaurants, fast casual and counter dining outlets as well as 10,000 sf of retail featuring private label products, grab and go, grocery and CPGs. To support this significant operation the Marketplace will feature a large commissary kitchen and bakery, as well as an exhibition kitchen that will provide media opportunities.

The Howard Hughes Corporation, the nationally recognized real estate company overseeing the re-development of New York City’s Seaport District, envisions the repositioning of the property as a magnet for attracting locals and visitors alike with a unique, year-round blend of entertainment, food and retail offerings.

POSITION SUMMARY:

As a Runner, you’ll be a part of E-Commerce department supporting customer orders, collecting food and orders from the kitchens, and preparing them for delivery and/or pickup. You will be also handing orders off to third party drivers. We are looking for awesome Team Members that are willing to make a difference and looking for growth with a great company.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Run with food orders (online orders) from the kitchens to e-commerce area and to curbside pickup point.
  • If need it, pickup several orders from multiple kitchens.
  • Communicate with kitchens expeditors about pending orders.
  • Might need to complete packing orders (add beverages etc.).
  • Keep orders organized, maintain awareness of counts of all items.
  • Work with sense of urgency while maintaining professionalism and high hospitality standard.
  • Act as the liaison between kitchens and e-commerce area.
  • Maintain a team player mentality by assisting others when the need arises

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • 1+ years of experience within fast-paced restaurant environment (runner, delivery person or floor assistant)
  • Ability to read and speak basic English
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, stand/walk for at least 6 hours, and be able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach with or without reasonable accommodation
  • High School diploma or equivalent diploma

Availability Requirements

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to perform the essential job functions consistent safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for prolong periods of time.
  • Moving around on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly frequent movements from place to place within the work area and property. Bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms, and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment.
  • Climbing steps regularly.
  • Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling.
  • Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
  • Exposure to temperatures: <32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), >90 degrees Fahrenheit.

The base pay range for this position is a range of $18 - $20 per hour. The determination of what a specific employee in this job classification is paid within the range depends on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, prior employment history/job-related knowledge, qualifications and skills, etc.
