Job Description

Summary/Objective
As a General Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the restaurant's operations, ensuring exceptional customer service, maximizing revenue and profitability, managing the staff, and maintaining a positive and enjoyable dining experience for our guests. The general manager will possess strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of the restaurant industry.

Essential Functions

Operations Management

  • Develop and implement operational strategies to achieve the restaurant's goals and objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, food quality standards, and restaurant policies.
  • Monitor daily operations, including food preparation, inventory management, staff scheduling, and customer service.
  • Maintain a clean and organized restaurant environment, adhering to sanitation and cleanliness standards.

Staff Management and Training

  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise restaurant staff, including servers, hosts, kitchen staff, and support personnel.
  • Foster a positive work environment through effective leadership, team building, and motivation.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to employees.
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance employee skills and improve overall service quality.

Customer Service Excellence

  • Ensure outstanding customer service by consistently meeting or exceeding guest expectations.
  • Address customer complaints and resolve issues promptly and professionally.
  • Foster a customer-focused culture among the staff, emphasizing attentiveness, courtesy, and personalized service.

Financial Management

  • Develop and manage the restaurant's budget, monitor expenses, and implement cost control measures.
  • Drive sales growth by implementing marketing initiatives, promotions, and special events.
  • Monitor inventory levels, place orders, and maintain supplier relationships to ensure timely delivery of goods.

Communication and Collaboration

  • Communicate effectively with staff, management, and suppliers to ensure smooth operations and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to develop long-term strategies, goals, and business plans.
  • Participate in meetings, provide regular progress reports, and contribute to decision-making processes.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a general management role, with experience in catering events and working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of food and beverage operations.
  • Strong leadership and time management skills
  • Sound understanding of financial management and budgeting principles.
  • Proficiency in restaurant management software and point-of-sale (POS) systems.
  • Bilingual in English/Haitian Creole is highly preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, and reach.
