We are currently looking for a maitre d' to join the team. Candidates must be gracious, confident, detail-oriented and should thrive in a very busy and high-energy environment.
Summary of Position:
The Maître D’ position serves as an active spokesperson and as the liaison between each guest and the restaurant. The maître d’ carries the responsibility of providing seamless transitions from first contact with the guest, to when guests enter and eventually leave the restaurant to create a singular hospitable experience. This position requires the interpersonal skills and attitude to make every guest feel cared for. The maître d’ also possesses adept communication skills in order to provide all other restaurant personnel with the necessary information to give the guest the best possible experience.
Essential Functions:
- Assess all guests’ needs while maintaining a courteous and professional attitude
- Maintain contact with kitchen staff, management, and service staff to ensure dining and reservation details are handled property and guests’ concerns are addressed
- Greet guests warmly and professionally upon arrival and departure
- Seat tables, provide guests with menus, and update backwaiter with guests’ water preferences as they are seated
- Guide guests to waiting areas when necessary
- Answer telephone calls in a courteous manner
- Manage reservation book to maximize covers for every shift
- Maintain guest database in reservation system, noting preferences and gathering information.
- Manage general and reservation-based emails, responding to guest inquiries.
- Warmly and graciously greet all guests upon arrival and departure
- Update website with daily menus, current offerings, and seasonal events
- Answer guests’ questions about menu items, restaurant functions, features, and services.
- Communicate known information regarding guest dietary restrictions or allergies to the MOD, captain, and kitchen expediter.
- Coordinate with and assist fellow employees to meet guests’ needs and support the operation of the restaurant.
- Attend all scheduled employee meetings and offer suggestions for improvement.
- Fill-in for fellow employees where needed to ensure guest service standards and efficient operations.
- Learn, understand and embrace the ways in which the restaurant is different and unique. Share knowledge with guests about its history, chef, and approaches to food and wine to add to the guest experience.
- Actively participate in daily lineup meetings
Work Hours:
The typical schedule for this position is from midday to mid evening. This position requires working nights and weekends.
Physical Demands:
This position requires standing on one’s feet for up to 8 hours. Individuals need to be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift to 40 pounds.
Required Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of fine dining hosting, supervisor or management experience
- Current Food Handlers Certification
Typical earnings exceed $30 per hour
