We are an upscale restaurant based in the Hayes Valley neighborhood of San Francisco. We are seeking a strong, experienced restaurant leader. The right candidates will have at least 3 years of senior restaurant management experience; in-depth wine and bar knowledge; fine dining and event experience; a passion for hospitality; and be able to inspire, train, coach, and develop the FOH team.

Position Summary:
Responsible for supervising the daily operations and activities of the restaurant and front-of-house employees. 

Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):  

  • Anticipate and accommodate needs of the guests; monitor the dining room during service, direct staff, build a solutions based environment. 
  • Address and resolve guest and employee concerns in person and on Google,Yelp,  and other prominent review aggregators.
  • Supervise and coordinate employee responsibilities to ensure that the restaurant is running efficiently and profitably.
  • Direct and coordinate the front-of-house staff. Some key responsibilities include recruitment, interviewing, hiring, scheduling, coaching, mentoring, training, job performance reviews, disciplinary procedures and executing HR procedures.
  • Responsible for managing a thorough inventory, and ordering operational supplies, liquor, wine, bar, beverage and other front-of-house supplies.
  • Market and develop restaurant event business: buy-outs, parties, special events.
  • Participate in growth/business development opportunities and employee development of all front-of-house employees.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of all food and beverage menus.
  • Responsible for reconciling end-of-shift financials, payroll logs, financial tasks and processing invoices.
  • Ability to perform the job duties of all supervised employees and have practical knowledge of the job duties of all restaurant employees.
  • Ensure that the restaurant is compliant with all federal, state and local laws and regulations; and company policies. 
  • Maintain and oversee the Department of Health and company sanitation standards.
  • Lead the team with consistent organization, cleanliness, time management skills and high standards that are in line with the company’s hospitality commitments, expectations and procedures.
  • Ability to multitask and pivot based on the changing business needs – consistently working with the owner to roll out new ideas and event offerings.
  • Oversee restaurant facility management: cleaning, repairs, maintenance, organization and design standards.
  • Cultivate and lead inspirational and educational training sessions, departmental meetings and pre-service meetings.

  • Portray a positive and professional attitude and is passionate about being a leader and team player. 

Training/Certification Requirements:

  • CA ABC Alcohol Awareness Training, Food Handling Certificate, Sexual Harrassment Training Certificate (training will be provided by company)

Minimum Education and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of previous experience working as a General Manager and least 5 years in the hospitality industry.
  • Strong guest service foundation, ability to coach, build a team, problem solve, and leadership skills required.
  • Must be organized, self-motivated, and proactive with a strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in tech and tech products: computers, Toast, Google Suite, etc.
  • Proof that you have received the COVID-19 vaccine or that you have a valid religious or medical reason not to be vaccinated.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Must be able to stand, lift and bend for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to bend and lift 50 lbs.
  • Role may include job duties or tasks requiring repetitive motion.
  • Exposure to hot kitchen elements or cleaning materials.
  • Must be able to work and remain focused in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule inclusive of varying shifts such as days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
