Position Overview:
As the Head Bread Baker at Chickadee Bread, you will be at the forefront of our bakery's success, responsible for overseeing all aspects of bread production. You will have the opportunity to shape our bread offerings, ensure exceptional quality, and inspire our team to create memorable artisanal loaves.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Bread Production: Lead and manage the entire bread-making process, including mixing, fermentation, shaping, baking, and finishing, while maintaining the highest standards of quality and consistency.
2. Recipe Development: Create, refine, and innovate bread recipes, experimenting with different flours, grains, and flavors to expand our bread selection.
3. Ingredient Sourcing: Collaborate with local suppliers to procure premium, locally sourced ingredients that align with our commitment to sustainability and freshness.
4. Quality Assurance: Establish and uphold rigorous quality control measures to ensure that every loaf meets Chickadee Bread's standards for taste, texture, and appearance.
5. Team Leadership: Train, mentor, and lead our bakery team, fostering a positive work environment that encourages creativity and excellence.
6. Inventory Management: Effectively manage inventory, monitor stock levels, and place orders to ensure seamless production operations.
7. Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of all baking equipment, ensuring safety and efficiency.
8. Customer Engagement: Interact with customers, answer inquiries about our bread offerings, and provide recommendations, creating a welcoming and informative bakery experience.
9. Menu Planning: Collaborate with the bakery owner to plan and update the bread menu, introducing seasonal and specialty breads as appropriate.
10. Food Safety Compliance: Strictly adhere to all food safety regulations and ensure that Chickadee Bread complies with health department guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Head Baker or similar role in a bakery setting.
- Exceptional knowledge of bread-making techniques, including fermentation, shaping, and baking.
- Creativity and an ability to develop and refine unique bread recipes.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
- Attention to detail and a relentless commitment to maintaining quality standards.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment and multitasking effectively.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation guidelines.

- Willingness to work early mornings and weekends as needed.
