We are a health forward grocery Store creating an experience where the shopper need not scrutinize every food label. Where the curation of the product will have undergone an extensive selection process ensuring the highest quality standards.
Currently we are looking for a talented and creative Pastry Chef to develop a menu of healthy, gluten-free pastries and baked goods. This position will require you on site at our bakery facility for recipe development and implementation. Ultimately, we are looking for a full-time individual to successfully fulfill this roll.

Responsibilities
· Develop gluten-free pastry and baked recipes aligned with our brand and ingredient standards.
· Identify and specify required equipment to execute pastry program.
· Train the team on executing recipes correctly and consistently.
· Maintain high level of hygienic standards for our baking facilities.
· The Pastry Chef reports directly to the Executive Chef.
· Working knowledge of baking with ingredient limitations (pastries that are gluten free, nut free, sugarless etc.).
· Supervise daily procurement of specific pastry ingredients.
· Work with all culinary and Food & Beverage leaders to create exemplary culinary standards and environment of continual improvement.
· Daily communication with culinary managers and staff.
· Ensure continual product quality control and procedures are maintained daily.
· Minimize spoilage, waste, and overproduction with consistent procedures.
· Ensure all cleaning schedules, temperature records, opening/closing checklists are completed and recorded daily.
· Maintain all equipment and be sure it is properly handled and maintained by all staff.
· Responsible for the quality of all pastry items prepared in the kitchen.
· Aware & continual knowledgeable of trends in the industry.
· Passion for how items are created including nutritional ingredient consideration.
· In depth knowledge of sanitation principles, food preparation and baking techniques and nutrition.
· Must have or be able to obtain a valid Food Handlers Safety Training Card.
· Maintain a lean and orderly baking station and adhere to health and safety standards.
· Ability to work shifts as business dictates including holidays & weekends.
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:
· Bachelor’s degree or related culinary degree, preferred.
· Proven experience as Pastry Chef, baker, or relevant role
· Food handlers’ certificate required
· Strong leadership skills, ability to make decisions, and multi-task.
· Superior communication skills
· Ability to build relationships and embrace change.
· Great attention to detail and creativity
· Organizing and leadership skills
· Willingness to replenish professional knowledge.
