Pomegranate Hospitality is looking for a Lead Pastry Cook to join our team of dedicated hospitality professionals for James Beard award-winning Chef Alon Shaya's modern Israeli restaurant, Safta.
Safta’s Lead Pastry Cook is responsible for upholding Pomegranate Hospitality’s Core Values while possessing excellent cooking skills and maintaining a well-organized kitchen. Preparation and execution of dishes and recipes to a high standard is required in conjunction with maintaining cleanliness and safety protocols The lead pastry cook is responsible for the production of all pastries, desserts, breads, and other sweet goods in the restaurant. Above all, the lead pastry cook must do all to contribute to a positive work environment as set forth by the culture and values of Pomegranate Hospitality.
Expectations of the Lead Pastry Cook:
- Manage the pastry production schedule, ensuring timely delivery of fresh and delicious pastries for service
- Train, mentor, and supervise pastry team members, providing guidance and support in pastry techniques, recipes, and presentation
- Maintain inventory and order supplies as needed, ensuring optimal stock levels and minimizing waste
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef and other team members to create seasonal menus and incorporate pastry offerings into the overall restaurant concept
- Ensure adherence to all health and safety regulations, maintaining a clean and organized work environment
- Stay updated on industry trends, techniques, and ingredients
- Assist with special events, private dining, and catering functions as required
- While we require flexibility in availability, this role primarily works daytime hours.
What we hope you bring to the team:
- Previous experience working as a Lead Pastry Cook or in a similar supervisory role within a high-end restaurant or pastry shop
- Strong knowledge of pastry techniques, baking methods, and flavor profiles
- Ability to manage a team and delegate tasks effectively
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to meet production and service deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of quality
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and ability to ensure compliance
- Able to collaborate with executive chef on seasonal menu changes
