Summary
The barista/ Busser is responsible for the preparation of all drinks or beverages with a focus on caffeinated beverages (Lattes, Espressos, Chai, etc.), is passionate about food and beverage preparation and educating guests on the variations of drinks presented.
Responsibilities
• Prepares and serving hot and cold drinks such as coffee, tea, artisan and specialty beverages
• Welcomes guests, determines their coffee interests and needs, informs them of specials or new items, answers questions, and accepts orders
• Educates customers by presenting and explaining the coffee drink menu; answering questions.
• Prepares and sells coffee and tea drinks by following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques for coffee drinks, such as, espresso, espresso lungo, caffe latte, and cappuccino.
• Prepares foods, baked goods and pastries, sandwiches
• Grinds and blends coffee beans, brews coffee and tea, and serves items to customers.
• Packages food and beverages for sale.
• Cleans and restocks work and dining areas, empties trash and sanitizes equipment and utensils.
• Learns about brewing methods, beverage blends, food preparation, and presentation techniques to improve food quality.
• Updates signage and displays to attract guests
• Takes inventory and replenishes items in display cases, at tables, or behind the counter.
• Maintains inventories by replenishing coffee bean supply; stocking coffee brewing equipment; maintaining supplies, pastries, and cookies for coffee bar
• Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
• Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading coffee, retail trade, and food service publications; maintaining personal networks.
• Enhances coffee shop reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
• Orders, receives and stocks supplies
• Resolves guest complaints and communicates with Manager on duty throughout interaction
• Processes and expedites payments in a timely fashion Requirements
• Proven experience as a barista
• Good understanding of restaurant health and safety regulations
• Dexterity in using kitchen equipment or utensils and carry heavy trays
• Well-organized

• Ability to handle a high-pressure, fast-paced, and stressful environment
• High school diploma or GED
