XO Marshmallow is the premiere gourmet marshmallow company in the United States, taking the nostalgia of toasted marshmallows on an open campfire, and elevating them with innovative flavors and applications. Since 2015 we have been making marshmallows to sell online and in-person. In 2017 we opened the World’s First Marshmallow Cafe right here in Chicago, and have continued to grow to meet our customers’ demand for delicious treats. Position Overview: We are seeking Production Pastry Staff for our new production facility. This role will be responsible for marshmallow and treat production, including making marshmallows, fluff, graham crackers, and other related treats. Our production team is an energetic group working on improving efficiency and creating new, innovative confections. This role works under the supervision of the Head of Production but has many opportunities for advancement and cross-training in other departments. This position requires dedication to detail, the ability to stand for long periods of time, the ability to lift 50lbs, and experience with food safety.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in food and confection preparation handling.
  • Increase efficiencies for production output when possible.
  • Maintain constant quality control according to related standard recipes and FDA food safety standards.
  • Assist Head of Production and supervisors in additional duties when needed
  • Work independently and on a team, collaborating with coworkers on projects and assisting in training production assistant staff.

Position Requirements:

  • At least 2 years working in pastry production or similar industry experience.
  • At least a high school diploma. Professional education (college, culinary school) is encouraged but not required.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Illinois Food Safety Management Certified, or willing to obtain certification upon hiring.
  • Ability to transport to and from work once we move to a new facility (located on Howard St. and McCormick Blvd. in Skokie).

Further information about this position:

  • Reporting: reports directly to Head of Production
  • Compensation: We are offering both Part-Time and Full-Time roles.
  • Hourly compensation based on experience.
  • Salaried position (competitive pay), with benefits including: paid vacation and sick time, and health insurance benefits.
  • Work Week: Schedule is flexible, but may include some weekends and/or late nights. Full-time schedule is 40-45 hours per week.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
