Job Details
Mordecai, the award-winning, bi-level cocktail bar and restaurant in the heart of Wrigleyville, is seeking a Bar Manager. Created by Chef Matthias Merges of Folkart Restaurant Management and nationally acclaimed cocktail bar Billy Sunday, the space offers an exceptional cocktail experience and features one of the country’s largest selections of rare and collectible vintage spirits.

At Mordecai, the bar manager position is supported by a strong team of beverage professionals. Our Wine Director works hand-in-hand with the bar manager to rotate the wine list and design wine focused activations. Our Spirits Archivist assists with staff education on our rare and vintage back bar and collaborates on the vintage cocktails. Our talented bar team contributes to menu cocktails as well as beverages for special activations.

Candidates should have a minimum of three years of previous craft cocktail experience (management experience prefered) and thrive in collaborative, dynamic, growth oriented roles.

Responsibilities:

  • Menu curation (cocktails and spirit list)
  • Launch weekly cocktail specials and monthly charity cocktails
  • Develop monthly spirit activations for Hush Money (our upstairs space)
  • Set social media agenda for beverage
  • Execute shot lists for monthly social media/PR content capture
  • Lead staff beverage education (weekly emails and pre-shift presentations)
  • Uphold Folkart hospitality and service standards
  • Manage liquor, beer, wine beverage cost
  • Execute end of the night closing duties
  • Submit weekly ordering
  • Perform monthly inventory
  • Oversee bar prep
