Job Details
Pain d'Avignon is a small business with a serious passion for the craft of bread and pastry making, and for the enjoyment of eating them. We produce fresh breads and pastries daily from our commissary in Long Island City for our wholesale clients, as well as our retail locations throughout Manhattan, and Brooklyn.

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Pastry Chef to join the team and produce pastries that follow our core integrity: simple, natural, fresh.

Our ideal candidate will:

  • Lead the team in pastry skill and knowledge development
  • Oversee the daily production for all items
  • Manage a team of 12 to 15 people
  • Handles scheduling, hours and management of payroll
  • Develop and create new, and seasonal items
  • Handle organization of work area, cleanliness of dried storage, walk-ins, and fridge
  • Daily quality checks of products

Skills for Qualification:

  • 2 + years of pastry department leadership and management in a high volume bakery or similar 
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Ability to embrace new information and learn quickly
  • Demonstrating a strong ability to building consensus and strong teams.
  • Extreme attention to detail
  • Effective time management and delegation skills
  • Bilingual- English + Spanish a plus
  • Must be meticulously clean and aware of all food safety standards 
  • Must be available to work on different shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Compensation Details

Compensation: Salary ($65,000.00 - $75,000.00)
