Job summary:

Samuels and Son Seafood, the nation’s leading purveyor of fresh and frozen seafood, has a unique and exciting opportunity for a Corporate Chef. This daytime role is ideal for professionals looking to hone their fish cookery skills and expand their seafood knowledge.   This position offers: the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, growth-focused culture, an opportunity for continuous advancement within the organization and a competitive compensation and benefits package.  The Corporate Chef will provide culinary instruction and customer service to buyers, suppliers, vendors, customers and employees.

 Summary of essential job functions:

  • Prepare menus and tastings for various guests and employees (Buyers, Suppliers, Vendors, Customers, Staff, Weekly Sales Meetings, etc.)
  • Build a recipe library using Samuels’ products, including monthly and weekly specials, exclusive items, and assist in creating new recipes.
  • Experiment with new products along with priority items as requested.
  • Ensure the kitchen, break rooms, dining room, and kitchen storage areas are organized and maintained to proper food safety requirements and procedures.
  • Ensure expired or unwanted items are disposed of properly.
  • Direct the maintenance crew in the procedures needed for food safety and maintaining a sanitary environment in these areas.
  • Assist the Marketing Department as needed in building a photo gallery of recipes, products, specialty items, etc. to be used for marketing and education including a featured, monthly recipe for Fish Tales Magazine
  • Assist in creating an array of Samuels’ cookbooks.
  • Monitor and promptly respond to emails and questions that come into our “Ask our Chef” email inbox.
  • Engage with Sales team daily to field any questions about product or customer concerns.
  • Offer assistance to Ippolito’s: evaluating food costs, review and improve recipes, etc. –Calculate weekly food costs, streamline operations to improve efficiency, and conduct food safety demonstrations.
  • Organize and work at various trade shows, events, media appearances, etc.
  • Assist in culinary school tours.
  • Assist in planning, layout, and operation of satellite corporate kitchens with potential to oversee satellite kitchen staff.

Requirements:

  • ServSafe Certified, required
  • Must have a progressive culinary background with a passion, knowledge and understanding of fish cookery.
  • Works with a sense of urgency and deadline driven. Attention to detail and very organized.
  • 3+ years culinary management experience.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Event/Catering experience helpful.
  • Computer knowledge required.

Job Type: Full-time

Shift:

  • 10 hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Holidays are a very busy time – all applicants should expect to work additional days and/or hours during those time
