Masseria by Nicholas Stefanelli a critically acclaimed, Southern Italian, fine dining restaurant in the Union Market District of Washington D.C. Masseria is seeking a General Manager to support and maintain the service and standards of the day-to-day operations of the restaurant. Candidates must possess a strong work ethic, professionalism, and a passion for food and service with an emphasis on guest satisfaction and relations. 

As the General Manager you will oversee all front and back of house operations and work closely with the leadership and support team. Masseria is seeking a demonstrated leader with a positive attitude and a genuine team player. The ability to work under pressure and be consistent is a must.

Requirements: 

  • Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in front of house floor management
  • Must have strong background in wine and wine service standards; with a strong depth of knowledge in Italy and France
  • Communication Skills

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Previous Michelin-starred experience and/or fine dining experience
  • Experience with using Harri, Toast, Tock, and/or Tripleseat 
  • TIPS certified 
  • Bilingual/multilingual

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operations experience in positions of Maitre d’, Bar Operations, Sommelier, and Service Director
  • Product order and sourcing
  • Organization and cleanliness
  • Managing overall restaurant cost, and SOP’s
  • Scheduling
  • Assist Beverage Director in all related tasks
  • Manage opening and closing cash handling procedures
  • Supervise dining room floor and guest services
  • Communicate with chefs daily for menu updates
  • Assist in the training of new staff members
  • Monitor inventory procedures and organize data
  • Successfully work as a team player in a dynamic team

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to squat, crouch, bend over
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
  • All employees are to maintain a neat and well-groomed appearance (specifics will be provided)

Stefanelli’s innovative Italian tasting menus sing with touches of coastal cultures and feature a satisfying range of his signature cuisine. Fresh hand-crafted La Paste along with freshly prepared Pesce and inventive Carne dishes comprise the rustic yet refined progression of courses. Washington Post food critic, Tom Sietsema, selected Masseria as third among his top 10 favorite restaurants in Washington, DC for 2015. Washingtonian Magazine selected Masseria to the #12 spot in its list of the city’s Top 100 Very Best Restaurants for 2016. The Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington nominated Masseria in category of “New Restaurant of the Year” and “Pastry Chef of the Year” for 2016.
