A Day in the Life of an Emerald City Baking Director (Job Description)
The Baking Director leads the day-to-day operations of baking our popular New York style bagels. As our Baking Director, you’ll work as part of a cohesive team to help us provide quality bagels and service.
We’re looking for an experienced and personable team player, with excellent communication skills who is able to lead by example and is comfortable delegating to our wonderful bagel bakers.
As our fearless leader, you will lead the baking team through dough making and bagel rolling.
Everyday responsibilities include: printing recipes, creating a production schedule, managing wholesale customer invoices, overseeing the packing of all wholesale orders, creating delivery routes for the wholesale drivers, and keeping track of our inventory. You also help maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen, in compliance with ServSafe regulations.
Must be a proactive problem-solver and have the ability to think on your feet in a fast-paced environment.
Work schedule will include weekends.
Knowledge + skills
Our ideal baking director would have 3 or more years of bagel baking experience, but we'll gladly train the right person with other baking experience.
Must be organized, have strong time management skills, and be comfortable operating a variety of industrial kitchen equipment - including a four-rack revolving tray oven, a 45-gallon bagel kettle, a 48-quart, and a 115-quart stationary bowl spiral mixer.
Physically need to be able to lift 50-pound bags of flour.
Preferred experience working in Google Sheets, Quickbooks, Microsoft Word
