The counter staff plays a crucial role in creating the experience for each of our guests at the Gwen Specialty Butcher Shop, located within Gwen Restaurant. You will provide warm and welcoming hospitality to everyone who walks through our doors. You will be responsible for all elements of guest transactions, including order entry, cash handling, and answering phones. This position is also repsonsible for the set up and display of bakery goods from The Pie Room, the Curtis Stone Bakery, which are part of the butcher shop offerings.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Process all sales transactions, ensuring accurate cash handling at all times
- Maintain up to date knowledge about all menu items and answer guest questions
- Ensure signage is accurate and placed correctly for both butcher and pastry items
- Communicate effectively with the bakery, butcher shop and restaurant
- Maintain stock levels and organization of all packaging
- Keep bakery and butchers team informed of stock levels of all items so that items can be replenished as needed
- Ensure that displays remain stocked and organized at all times
- Maintain cleanliness of counter areas in accordance with health department standards
- Assist bakery drivers with morning delivery and afternoon pick up
- Additional duties as assigned by management
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Food Handlers Permit
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Solid knowledge of basic service procedures.
- Basic knowledge of cash handling standards.
- Barista skills a bonus

- Ability to accept and follow verbal instructions and delegated tasks in English.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with guests, co workers and management in English

WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to stand for long periods of time, up to 8 hours per day.
- Requires moderate physical effort: standing, carrying, bending, stretching, wrist movement, stooping, pulling and pushing, lifting of weights up to 25 pounds.
