XUNTOS is a Tapas Bar from Chef Sandra Cordero now open in the heart of Downtown Santa Monica. We have a space that is warm, fun, not too serious, with plenty to eat. A place to enjoy the company you’re with & feel like home.


XUNTOS, “together” in Gallego, serves small plates of things we want you to try: from the farmer’s market to the traditional dishes of Galicia, Asturias, Catalunya & the Basque Country, as they’re eaten in Spain. The wines follow the food: natural, unrefined, generous, showcasing Spain & California, along with some others we love & want to share with you.


This is the 2nd restaurant from Chef Cordero, who opened GASOLINA in Woodland Hills in 2015. She is a James Beard Fellow & co-founder of Regarding Her, a national nonprofit supporting women owners in hospitality. Scott Baker, previously the Wine Director at SOMNI, is the General Manager.


XUNTOS is hiring a Line Cook. We’re looking for a focused candidate who is organized, detail-oriented, & disciplined. You must be able to cook, season & taste with precision. You must be comfortable working as a team in a collaborative manner.


As a Line Cook, your primary responsibility will be to prepare, plate & prep food with care, consistency, quality & speed, according to XUNTOS’s standards.


Your responsibilities:


Embody our Core Values: Hospitality, Respect, Responsibility, Equality / Equity, Sustainability, Positivity, Professionalism.

Ensure that all food is consistently prepared and served according to the recipes, portioning, cooking & serving standards of XUNTOS.

Remake any dish or recipe not up to XUNTOS’s standards.

Set up your station before service completely & in a timely manner, according to the checklist and including any needed prep.

Break down your station after service completely & in a timely manner.

Fully participate in kitchen cleaning before & after service, and at any other time, as assigned.

Properly execute XUNTOS’s menu & prep recipes.

Complete all prep assigned to you.

Follow all safety procedures, including knife safety.

Ensure proper food temperatures are maintained & all food is correctly stored.

Be ready and willing to assist fellow team members as situations arise to ensure excellent service & smooth operations. Fill in where needed to ensure guest experience is never compromised as a result of operational challenges, including, but not limited to, dishwashing

Demonstrate an attitude of teamwork by working collaboratively with peers to identify positive solutions to problems or issues. Be open and receptive to changing needs & priorities of your team.

Fully understand and comply with all federal, state, county & municipal regulations that pertain to health, safety and labor requirements of the restaurant, employees & guests.

Your Requirements:

Must be available Thursday, Friday & Saturday nights.

Minimum two (2) years of experience working in a service establishment of similar caliber.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Potential and ambition beyond this role.

Self-directed approach to personal learning and development: embrace giving and receiving feedback.

Physical Requirements:


Must have manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.

Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, and stretch. Can frequently lift up to 30 pounds, occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, as well as work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 10 hours), moving intermittently.

This is a role that requires physical stamina: carrying food up and down stairs, and maintaining an energized presence on the line during multiple hours of service.

Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly ($19.00 - $22.00) plus tips

Occupying two storefronts of a 1926 building at 516 Santa Monica Boulevard, the space includes two kitchens, two mezzanines, a dining room & a bar room. XUNTOS serves tapas, unrefined: small plates from the farmer’s market around the corner to traditional dishes of Galicia, Asturias, Catalunya & the Basque Country, as they’re eaten in Spain. Natural Wines from these regions are the centerpiece of the ambitious beverage program, along with Spanish beer on draft & aperitivos made with Sherry, Vermouth & seasonal fruit curated by beverage director Scott Baker.
