Job Details

Pomegranate Hospitality is looking for a Sous Chef to join our team of dedicated hospitality professionals for James Beard award-winning Chef Alon Shaya's modern Israeli restaurant, Safta. 

A Sous Chef at Safta is a part of the management team responsible for teaching and overseeing daily culinary operations, achieving consistent food quality standards and ensuring the company core values are being executed. This role will manage the development of the kitchen facility, operating culinary systems and team while also creating a successful working relationship with the service team. It is essential to have a strong hold on the company's culture and values to ensure they are implemented everyday with each employee.


Expectations of a Sous Chef: 

  • Collaborate with the Chef de Cuisine and culinary team to develop and execute menu items that reflect Safta's culinary vision.
  • Supervise and train kitchen staff, ensuring that all recipes, techniques, and plating standards are consistently met.
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of new menu items and seasonal specials, considering local and seasonal ingredients.
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness, organization, and food safety standards in the kitchen.
  • Manage inventory, ordering, and cost control to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
  • Lead by example, fostering a positive work environment and promoting teamwork and open communication.

What we hope you bring to the team:

  • Previous experience working as a Sous Chef or in a similar supervisory role
  • Strong knowledge of cooking techniques and flavor profiles
  • Ability to lead a team and delegate tasks effectively
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of quality
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and ability to ensure compliance
  • Understanding of food costing, inventory management, and kitchen operations.
  • Creativity and passion for culinary arts.
