The Dinex Group, is looking for a Sushi Service Cook for a Michelin stared Japanese Omakase restaurant, Joji.
The Sushi Service Cook will work to prepare and present sushi dishes and other similar menu creations to the exact specifications of the restaurant recipes and procedures, ensuring a unique and enjoyable dining experience.
We are looking for professional Sushi cooks with 2+ years Fine Dining Sushi experience.
Requirements:
- Create and prepare various types of sushi including maki, nigiri, and sashimi with both cooked and raw ingredients.
- Prepare appetizers; hot & cold dishes
- Plate, decorate and present dishes to customers
- Follow recipes and team processes to ensure meeting time and quality standards.
- Ensure food safety standards are always maintained, including proper storage of all kitchen items, use of PPE, and the maintaining of proper pH of rice, among others.
- Ensure correct temperatures are always met and maintained.
- Follow all cleaning procedures and ensure best hygiene practices, including thoroughly cleaning your space at the end of your shift.
- Collaborate effectively and respectfully with all team members.
- Effectively communicate with management, report any equipment issues, and quality service issues.
- Reduce inventory waste to the best of your ability.
- Carry out any other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Skills, Abilities and Experience:
- 2+ years of work in a Fine Dining Sushi environment.
- The ability to demonstrate exceptional customer service skills.
- Always maintains a warm and friendly demeanor.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Talented in the art of sushi making, able to make changes quickly and think fast.
- This position will spend 100% of the time standing.
- Ability to work flexible hours as required including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds.
Skills, Abilities and Experience:
- NYC Food Protection Course Certification (preferred)

Compensation Details
Compensation: Hourly ($16.00) plus tips
