Paramount Events in seeking an experienced Sous Chef with experience in hotel or similar high volume production environments to focus on assisting the Executive Chef in the culinary production of our drop off and full service events.  The ideal candidate enjoys leading a team, collaborating with sales and operations, and is eager to grow their leadership skills.

 

Responsibilities

• Collaborates in the design of food menu, inventory, and management of supplies.
• Monitor stocks and make appropriate orders within budget.
• Monitors and maintains kitchen equipment.
• Prepares food properly and ensures that food is top quality and that kitchen is in good condition.
• Keeps stations clean and complies with food safety standards.
• Directs food preparation and collaborates with executive chef.
• Identify staffing needs and help recruit and train personnel.
• Trains new employees.
• Oversees and supervises kitchen staff by guiding and motivating cooks to work more efficiently.
• Maintain a lean and orderly cooking station and adhere to health and safety standards.
• Offers suggestions and creative ideas that can improve upon the kitchen’s performance.
• Solves problems that arise and maintains control of issues in the kitchen.

Requirements

• Proven experience as Sous Chef or relevant role
• Great attention to detail and creativity
• Organizing and leadership skills
• Willingness to replenish professional knowledge
• In depth knowledge of sanitation principles, food preparation and baking techniques and nutrition
• Working knowledge of baking with ingredient limitations (pastries that are gluten free, sugarless etc.)
• Certificate in culinary arts, pastry-making, baking or relevant field
