Somebody People is looking for a line / prep chef to join our growing team and restaurant group!
Somebody People, located in the growing neighborhood of South Broadway in Denver, CO, is a lively plant-based take on Italian cuisine, Inspired by our local farmers and purveyors. The kitchen creates fresh takes on classics as well as original inventions showcasing seasonal and local ingredients. The wine list hangs its hat on a deep focus on natural and sustainable wines, along with an exciting and creative cocktail menu. Somebody People exudes warmth and communal energy and serves as a central gathering place for its community. Who you are: line / prep chef is responsible for the daily operations, production, and finishing of all prep for our menus. Their primary focus is on building a strong team, strengthening established systems, and ensuring that every dish that leaves the kitchen is the best depiction of the food we want to serve at Somebody People. This role will demand someone who is organised, loves a clean space, is well versed in costing dishes, scheduling and and ability to push and drive a team.
The Chef role typically has several duties that revolve around helping the kitchen stay clean and maintaining the high standards of the operation. Following daily and weekly cleaning tasks,
Creativity is just as important as consistency at Somebody People, we want someone with the ability to collaborate with the whole kitchen team to create fun innovative dishes for the varying menus; seasonal changes, private events, and our weekly Sunday Supper chefs tasting menu.
What you’ll do:
- Create and prep all dishes applicable to the menu
- Follow all recipes, and presentation specifics as set forth by Chef Art
- Follow all opening/closing kitchen procedures
- Set up station according to Chef/Kitchen guidelines
- Able to work well in a team, as well as independently.
- Attentive to detail.
What we need from you:
- Availability Monday to Sunday
- Previous sous chef experience and understanding of professional kitchens
- Knowledge and understanding of safety, sanitation and food handling procedures
- Understand & follow written and verbal instruction & direction
- English fluency and additional languages preferred, but not required
- Ability to work in tight, high pressure environments
- Attention to detail and ability to smell & taste
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds
