Job Description 

RHT / Server Assistant 
 

The Server Assistant provides assistance to Red House Tavern servers and ensure that tables are cleared, cleaned, and properly set for patrons. The server assistant’s responsibilities include preparing and refilling beverages, assisting servers with processing payments, removing trash, and sanitizing restaurant menus. The Server Assistant helps perform end-of-day clean-up duties.

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Contributes to the departmental and property monthly goals for guest satisfaction scores by doing the job right the first time and giving exemplary service that goes above and beyond guest expectations.  This is Job One for all team members.   
  • Helps set the restaurant for service. Stocks and maintains side stations. Rolls napkins. Makes sure each table is clean and set perfectly including, silverware, glasses, napkins, salt and pepper shakers, and other tabletop items.  Makes sure sugar caddies and condiments are ready to go.  Makes sure floors and furniture are clean.  Superior anticipatory service lies in the preparation.   
  • Arranges tables and chairs to accommodate larger groups of patrons.  
  • Serves complimentary snacks to patrons once they are seated.  
  • Wraps utensils in napkins accordingly.  
  • Collects plates and clears the table as customers finish their meals.   
  • Cleans tables after patrons leave.  Prepares tables for arriving patrons by disinfecting tables and chair surfaces, and setting up tableware, napkins, and condiments. Clean highchairs and booster seats with sanitizing solution if they were used.   
  • Carries dirty tableware to the kitchen area.  
  • Place linen in tubs and carry to the Laundry when full.   
  • Addresses customers with a warm and friendly tone, making them feel at home. 
  • Delivers food, beverages, condiments, and other requested items to customers at their seat or table.  Ensures that drinks and food is prepared correctly and to customers’ satisfaction; resolves any food or drink preparation issues that arise to the satisfaction of the customer. 
  • Responds to guest requests with a high energy and urgency and informs Hospitality Director or Lead Host/Hostess of any complaints.  
  • Anticipate guests’ needs.   This is a key way to provide superior and memorable service. Notice when they look around and stop at their table to assist them.  
  • Remove unneeded items from tables promptly.   
  • Bids guests farewell by name and inviting them to come back. 
  • Ensures that the server station is adequately stocked with necessary restaurant supplies. 
  • Maintains a clean and orderly service work area.   
  • Perform closing sidework, utilizing Closing Sidework Checklist in Quore. 
  • Assists with other restaurant tasks such as cleaning the Café or Red House Tavern area and preparing silverware and condiments. 
  • Identifies leads for sales by surfacing information on guests’ companies and reasons to visit and communicate them to Sales using the specified method.   
  • Always alert to hazards anywhere observed in the hotel and takes personal responsibility to ensure they are corrected.   
  • Makes safety and security a top priority. Is completely trained in competent in all emergency procedures and be ready to take charge in an emergency. Is constantly aware of potential security threats and models If You See Something, Say Something by notifying the Manager on Duty or any other Manager. 
  • Maintains regular attendance in compliance with the hotel’s standards, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel. 
  • Wears appropriate brand required uniform and name tag during all scheduled shifts. 
  • Performs all other duties assigned from time to time. 

Required Skills/Abilities:  

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. 
  • Well-organized with ability to take and place food and beverage orders accurately. 
  • Ability to operate point-of-sale systems. 

Education and Experience: 

  • Must be at least sixteen years old.    
  • Proven experience in the restaurant industry.   
  • Must successfully complete restaurant’s training course. 
  • Achieve food handler certification and possess sound knowledge of proper food handling procedures.  
  • Ability to work on a team in a fast-paced environment.  
  • Effective organizational, customer service, and communication skills.   

Physical Requirements:  

  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking. 
  • Must be able to lift, balance, and carry trays of food weighing up to 25 pounds. 

Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly ($6.00) plus tips

Estimated Weekly Tips: $500
