SOMOS Hospitality, the team behind Tzuco, has announced UMMO, a contemporary Italian dining concept opening in River North at 22 West Hubbard Street in July. Helmed by Principal/Co-Founder Germán González with cuisine by Chef/Partner José Sosa and design by Karen Herold of Studio K Creative, UMMO will offer regional Italian cuisine. We are seeking bartenders for our brand-new restaurant in River North.

Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced and creative Bartender to join our team. As a Bartender, you will be responsible for crafting and serving a variety of beverages, providing excellent customer service, and ensuring a memorable bar experience for our guests. Your knowledge of mixology, attention to detail, and friendly demeanor will contribute to the success of our bar.
Responsibilities:
- Welcome and greet customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Take drink orders from customers and provide recommendations based on their preferences.
- Prepare and serve a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, following recipes and established standards.
- Mix ingredients to create cocktails and specialty drinks, ensuring accurate measurements and consistent quality.
- Engage with customers, building rapport, and creating a welcoming atmosphere.
- Maintain a clean and organized bar area, including the bar top, glassware, utensils, and equipment.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels of beverages, restocking as needed.
- Handle cash, credit card transactions, and accurately process payments.
- Adhere to all local and state alcohol regulations, ensuring responsible serving practices.
- Collaborate with the bar team to develop and update drink menus and specialty offerings.
- Continuously expand knowledge of mixology, new drink trends, and cocktail recipes.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Bartender in a bar or restaurant setting.
- In-depth knowledge of mixology, drink recipes, and bar terminology.
- Strong understanding of different types of alcoholic beverages and their preparation methods.
- Ability to create innovative and visually appealing cocktails.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple drink orders simultaneously.
- Basic math skills for processing payments and making change.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems is a plus.
- Certification in responsible alcohol service (e.g., TIPS certification) is preferred.
