Position Summary:
Sugarbird Cafe is seeking an experienced and dedicated Cafe Lead to oversee the operations and ensure the smooth functioning of our renowned afternoon tea cafe. As the Cafe lead, you will be responsible for maintaining exceptional customer service, overseeing tea and coffee preparation, managing the setup of afternoon tea sets, coordinating gift box preparations, and supervising inventory management. Responsibilities:
1. Operational Management:
- Oversee the daily operations of Sugarbird Cafe with the Cafe Manager, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning.
- Coordinate with the team to maintain exceptional customer service standards, address customer inquiries, and resolve issues promptly.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of tea, coffee, retail products, and gift items, ensuring sufficient stock and timely restocking.
- Collaborate with the kitchen staff to ensure the timely delivery of freshly baked pastries, scones, sandwiches, and other treats.
2. Staff Management and Training:
- Recruit, train, and supervise the Customer Service and Afternoon Tea Specialists, providing guidance and support.
- Foster a positive work environment, promoting teamwork, professionalism, and high-quality service.
- Conduct regular staff meetings, provide performance feedback, and address any performance or disciplinary issues.
- Ensure that all staff members adhere to hygiene, health, and safety regulations.
3. Customer Service:
- Lead by example in providing exceptional customer service, addressing customer inquiries, and resolving any concerns.
- Foster a customer-focused environment, ensuring that all customers have a memorable and delightful experience.
- Promote sales by offering recommendations, upselling products, and maintaining strong relationships with customers.
4. Tea and Coffee Preparation:
- Oversee tea and coffee preparation processes, ensuring that all beverages meet Sugarbird Cafe's high-quality standards.
- Provide guidance and training to staff members on brewing techniques, flavors, and characteristics of various teas and coffees.
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness and organization of the beverage preparation area, equipment, and utensils.
5. Afternoon Tea Setup and Gift Box Preparations:
- Ensure the proper setup and arrangement of afternoon tea sets, adhering to Sugarbird Cafe's visual and quality standards.
- Coordinate with staff to oversee gift box preparations, including inventory management and tracking of gift items and retail products.
- Maintain an attractive and organized retail display, ensuring proper pricing and rotation of merchandise.
6. Financial Management:
- Monitor daily sales, analyze financial reports, and implement strategies to maximize revenue and minimize costs.
- Manage cash handling procedures, including cash register operations, deposits, and change funds.
- Collaborate with the management team to develop and implement pricing strategies, promotions, and marketing initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a lead role within the hospitality or cafe industry.
- Excellent leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage a diverse team effectively.
